FOOT AND ANKLE NONSURGICAL TREATMENT

Foot and Ankle Nonsurgical Treatment

There are so many ways we can improve your foot and ankle health without needing to use surgery. We approach every foot or ankle problem from the most conservative angle possible. Then, as needed, we can employ surgical methods if that is what is best for your recovery.

We make our decision on the best treatment using our many years of education and experience. Our internships, externships, residencies and board certifications have prepared us to make accurate diagnoses of the cause of your foot and ankle problems.

Then, even when we perform nonsurgical treatment of a foot or ankle problem, our surgical experience gives us a deeper understanding of anatomy and causes of pain. We know exactly what issues can be treated with nonsurgical approaches and which require surgery to achieve an excellent result.

We know how much our patients count on our expertise. They are going to have to walk on these feet and ankles for the rest of their lives!

Helping Patients Maintain Excellent Foot and Ankle Health

Feet and ankles receive so much pressure and weight, and they may be difficult for some patients to monitor. With aging and health conditions such as diabetes, medical assistance is often needed to keep these lower limbs free from infection and pain.

  • Diabetic foot care:

It is important to check the blood and nerve flow to the feet regularly. We do these diagnostic tests every day in our office. We also treat ulcers and fungal infections of the nails, along with performing ingrown toenail correction. We remove calluses and corns and treat blisters so they don’t become infected. It’s also important to advise our patients on lifestyle and exercise changes that can improve their condition, and which types of socks and shoes they should wear.

  • Sprains:

The podiatrists in our office are uniquely qualified to diagnose the severity of sprains and begin treatment. No other type of doctor has as much detailed education in the structure of feet and ankles. We can verify that no fracture exists, protect your foot or ankle from any further damage and advise you on at-home care. With close follow-up, we can soon have you walking and running again.

  • Fractures:

With in-office digital x-rays, we’ll know in minutes how severe a fracture is. Both our offices are located in the same building as advanced imaging services, so if closer examination is needed, we can get that done quickly too. For simple fractures, we can often provide nonsurgical care in our office.

  • Plantar warts:

There are several ways to treat these troublesome growths without surgery. They include topical medications, cryotherapy (freezing), laser therapy and shaving the wart away. This care can be quickly performed in our office.

  • Plantar fasciitis:

This painful condition can often be improved with conservative, nonsurgical care. We can advise patients on stretching exercises, supportive shoe inserts, and nighttime splints that can improve plantar fasciitis.
