Austin Office:

FAQ

  • What should I expect at my appointment?

Southwest Austin Foot & Ankle Clinic is a friendly, comfortable office. Our caring staff is available to answer any question you may have. At your appointment, you will be taken to an examination room and seated in our modern podiatry chairs, which allow you to comfortably recline and relax while your feet are being examined. The Medical Assistant will help you remove your shoes and socks if needed. Depending on the nature of your foot or ankle condition, you may have x-rays taken in our office along with your physical examination by the doctor.

We find that some people are nervous about visiting a podiatrist. Sometimes people feel embarrassed to show their feet and are worried that they will be judged. Other people are worried about potential pain or discomfort if an in-office procedure or injection is needed to treat their condition. We want to assure you that all of these worries are normal. Please know that our experience staff truly has “seen it all” and you will not shock us with any foot or ankle condition. Also, we take great care to make our patients as comfortable as possible during any necessary treatments in the office. You will be aware of everything that the staff or physician is doing each step of the way and we encourage you to ask questions so that you have a full understanding of the treatment being provided.

  • What is a Podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a physician who has attained the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree and completed a two to four year residency. Podiatrists are true specialists of the foot and ankle, having completed extensive clinical and surgical training. These physicians are licensed to treat all pathologies of the foot and ankle, including (but not limited to): bunions, heel pain, hammertoes, skin conditions, diabetic feet, sports injuries, pediatric foot issues, neuromas, fractures, trauma, neuropathy, and tendonitis.

  • What is your treatment philosophy?

At Southwest Austin Foot & Ankle Clinic, we provide personalized, comprehensive care for all foot and ankle conditions. We serve patients of all ages, including children, teens, adults, and seniors for various foot and ankle problems. Because we are a small clinic, we take great pride in providing individual attention to each patient.

Our physicians believe in taking a conservative approach whenever possible to treat foot and ankle problems. Often, problems can be resolved with measures such as shoe inserts, stretching exercises, or physical therapy techniques. Other problems might require more aggressive treatments such as medication, injections, toenail procedures or skin debridement. If surgical treatments are necessary, our physicians are highly trained and experienced surgeons who can provide the most current interventions for a wide variety of foot and ankle problems.

No matter what treatments are necessary to treat your foot or ankle problem, you will find that our physicians will listen closely to your concerns and work with you to develop a treatment plan that suits your condition and your circumstances.

  • Where is your office located?

We are proud to have two locations to serve our patients and provide high quality podiatric care that is close to home.

The Southwest Medical Village is located in the Oak Hill area, near the NXP and AMD campuses. This office serves Austin and the surrounding areas.

All of our offices provide comprehensive podiatric care, including on-site x-rays, procedures, casting, evaluation and treatment options. Additionally, each of our offices are located within Medical Village communities that provide the one-stop convenience of being able to access primary care, a wide variety of specialists, Clinical Pathology Laboratories, and Austin Radiological Association.
